Preservation Information In October 2002, sufficient work on the set had been completed to enable its first move since withdrawal. 141108 became the first production second generation DMU to operate in preservation. However the set was later deemed as unsuitable for the line, and in 2005 141108 was relocated to the Colne Valley Railway, under custodianship of Colne Valley Diesels Ltd. Under the new arrangement, some restoration work was completed and the set re-entered service in July 2006. The following year 141108 was sold to custodians Colne Valley Diesels Ltd. In June 2010, 141108 was repainted into Blue & Grey livery, which suited the set well despite not being a railway colour scheme. After several years of use, the set fell out of favour as a few electrical issues and other required work prevented it from operating reliably so it was withdrawn from service. 141108 was put up for sale but the high price led to no takers and it was eventually taken off the market. During 2017 & 2018 repairs were completed and 141108 returned to service in Spring 2018. The ressurection was to be brief however with further problems leading to the set being withdrawn again and put up for sale. This time around the call was answered with mainline company Locomotive Services Limited purchasing 141108. In February 2020 the set was moved by its new owners to storage at Eastleigh Works, officially exiting preservation in the process. |
