Preservation Information
Due to 50982's extended mainline career in departmental service, it was not preserved until 1997 when it was bought for the Swansea Vale Railway as a set along with DMCL 52061.

It is thought the set never ran at Swansea and was stored along with several others on site where its condition deteriorated.

After a short period of time the vehicle had been dismantled for spares in December 1999. 50982 had little historical significance with many otherClass 108 DMBS vehicles still surviving, the class being one of the most numerous in preservation.
