Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway

The Embsay & Bolton Abbey Railway, formerly known as the Yorkshire Dales Railway, has been operating trains on its 4 mile line in Yorkshire since the early 1980's. It occupies the former Midland Railway route between Skipton and Ilkley, with the former being a potential extension for the railway in the future.

The line's railcar history has been mixed, and can be split into two chapters, the first being during the 12 year period from 1998-2010. During this period the railway was the home of Class 107 preservation with no less than three sets based there at one time. However they later all moved on to various different locations, leaving the railway with no first generation units.

In 2021 the second chapter started with the preservation of a Class 142 set, however this was also subsequently unsuccessful moving on in 2024 leaving the line without any railcars once again.
