Midsomer Norton (S&D Railway Heritage Trust)
Midsomer Norton station is the home of the Somerset & Dorset Railway Heritage Trust, who are working hard to recreate as much of the iconic Somerset & Dorset line as possible.
They currently have a modest ¼ mile running line but have aspirations to extend out in both directions.
In 2011 they took delivery of a Class 108 set and immediately started operating DMU passenger services, however the set subsequently relocated after a relatively short time.
The following year a Class 115 centre car arrived for use as a static buffet at the station but in the end was used for many years as a mess room before its declining condition led to it being deemed surplus to requirements.
The third era of DMU ownership commenced in 2022 when a group of members purchased a Class 107 set for use on the railway. This was more successful with the vehicles receiving more maintenance work than previous examples. The set now runs throughout the summer season and continues to be useful on operating days which don't see enough visitors to support more expensive motive power.
