Preservation Information
143616 became the 7th of the class to be preserved after the Tanat Valley Railwaysecured two sets for its modest line. It arrived shortly after classmate 143601 in July 2021.

Because the Tanat Valley had not yet reached a stage where it was offering passenger rides, 143616 was initially stored but kept in an operating condition. The railway recognised that the set was the better of the two sets it had obtained so 143616 was retained in storage with only "minor fettling" required to make it passenger ready once public rides were launched. These however did not materialise.

A period of storage followed with some mould and water damage being sustained by the interior.

In December 2025, the set was sold to Pip Jones and brought under the banner of the newly formed Heritage Traction Preservation group. Immediate works involved deep cleaning and reversing damage caused by storage.

Future Plans
Heritage Traction Preservation intends to oversee the ownership, restoration, and long-term care of 143616. Whether this will involve preservation passenger service or not is not currently known.
