Preservation Information
144013 became the fourth Class 144 to be preserved when it was moved over two days by road to the Telford Steam Railway in July 2020. The set was bought to aid the railway's expansion aims in the future, to run off-peak services to Ironbridge. Entry into service was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, although it was used in the December for a member's special.

Due to a lack of resources preventing effective crew training to be undertaken, 144013 sat out 2021 and most of 2022 without making its public passenger debut, it was however maintained in an operational condition.

In September 2022, 144013 finally made an official entry into service, working services on one of the railway's last running dates for the year, following the successful completion of crew competency training.

144013 continues to operate selected services at the Telford Steam Railway and is the most active DMU on the line at present.

Future Plans
In the short term plans are being put in place for internal refurbishment and repaint.

Long term it has been suggested the intention is to use 144013 on Ironbridge services.
