Dartmoor Railway

The Dartmoor Railway was a heritage Line based on a still active freight route from Meldon Stone Quarry to Coleford Junction on the national network.

Stations existed at Okehampton, Meldon Quarry, Okehampton and Sampford Courtenay, with a planned extension of services to Yeoford with a national network interchange.

The railway never ran conventional DMUs, having a Southern Region DEMU instead to operate off-peak services, but briefly used a single Class 117 TCL as a vacuum braked loco hauled coach, in the absence of more appropriate stock.

During the early 2020's, the Dartmoor Railway was closed down and absorbed back into the national network, with the now dilapidated Class 117 TCL luckily finding a new home elsewhere.
