Fife Heritage Railway

The Fife Heritage Railway, a relative newcomer to the preserved railway scene, was formed in 1992 to showcase the heritage of the railways in Fife along with the rolling stock which once worked there. Following temporary residence at Methil Power station, in 2003 they settled on their main base at Levenmouth, Kirkland Yard being the centre of restoration activities.

In 2008 the railway opened to the public and they have steadily grown since, offering short rides on their 1/2 mile track usually once a month. The rolling stock collection policy is strong with only Scottish examples that worked in and around Fife being considered for preservation.

In 2022 the railway entered the world of preserved railcars with the purchase of a Class 107 vehicle in poor condition which was missing its partner and had yet to carry passengers in preservation. The vehicle was of course one of only a few which fitted with the local heritage policy, having operated its entire life in Scotland.
