Waverley Route Heritage Centre

The Waverley Route Heritage Centre is located at Whitrope in Roxburghshire (Scotland). The line is an embryonic heritage railway with a slowly growing collection of rolling stock and infrastructure.

It is part of the Waverley Route Heritage Association who have been conserving the Waverley route (Edinburgh-Carlisle) since 2001. However it was 2012 before a true railway presence was established with the first track laid and rolling stock delivered.

One of the first items of rolling stock was second generation experimental Railbus RB004, ideal for a short line due to its compactness. This was proven with RB004 operating many of their passenger services.

In 2020 the second generation theme was considerably extended with the arrival of four Class 142 vehicles.
