Preservation Information
143617 was a late member of the class to escape scrap, being preserved in late 2022, the 13th Class 143 to enter preservation. It was acquired by the embryonic Tarka Valley Railway who were slowly building up rolling stock to support their growing operation.

On 143617's arrival, only a few yards of track had been laid, with the railway not yet offering any passenger rides. It was stored to await further development after which it could play a geater role.

143617 remains stored awaiting the day that the railway starts its passenger operations.

Future Plans
143617 is planned to operate passenger services in the future once more of the railway has been rebuilt.
