Preservation Information
144003 was the first Class 144 that was announced as set aside for preservation in late 2019. Its last home was at Neville Hill (Leeds) under Northern Rail before preservation and movement to theGreat Central Railway (North) in September 2020. The delay in between announcing the move and actual arrival into preservation meant that in the end, 144003 became the seventh Class 144 set to be preserved.

Whilst reportedly maintained in an operational condition, 144003 never entered any service and was essentially stored for several years whilst at the GCRN, bnefore being put up for sale in 2023.

Future Plans
It is assumed the set will soon leave the railway to a new home.
