Preservation Information
Purchased from BR in 1990 having been heavily modified for pacrcel use, 51610 was moved to the Swindon & Cricklade Railway but was not to be restored as a DMU vehicle again.

51610 was fitted out in 1992 as a store and living accommodation vehicle as a support vehicle for diesel loco D5222.

However after just a few years it was moved to Rogart Station where it was to spend many years used for storage and holiday accommodation.

Little else is known of 51610 whilst located there, but by 2008 the rather dilapidated looking vehicle was sold to the MRT and Llangollen Railcars as a source of spares for their three Class 127 DMBS vehicles. It was moved to Butterley in 2008, and several parts have seen useful service on the operational 127's.

In order to tidy up the vehicle's appearance, the front end was repainted yellow.

Since then, the vehicle has been progressively stripped of useful components.

Future Plans
It is planned for the vehicle to remain a source of spare parts for the MRB based Class 127 vehicles. The vehicle will not be returned to passenger use.
