Preservation Information
142060 was the seventh Class 142 to be preserved (in 2020). It was purchased privately for the Wensleydale Railway who had been struggling with keeping enough first generation railcars in operating condition to serve their off peak needs. Its last home was at Newton Heath (Manchester) under Northern Rail before preservation and movement to the Wensleydale Railway in February 2020. It entered preservation under its own power, driven in multiple with 142028 to its new home utilising their active mainline connection.

142060 & 142028 became the first Class 142's to operate in preservation when, in multiple as a 4-car set, they ran services on Sunday 23rd February 2020.

In April 2021, 142060 was included in an umbrella organisation named "Wensleydale Pacer Preservation" which brought together the seven Pacer sets owned by various parties but based on the railway.

142060 was next used over a year later in April 2021 on crew training and refreshers on the railway in preparation for their reopening after the Covid-19 pandemic.

142060 continues to operate off-peak services at the Wensleydale Railway.

Future Plans
Media reports in early 2020 (the initial batch of 142 sets preserved attracted mainstread media attention) suggested that 142060 would only be run on the Wensleydale Railway for a limited period of time before being converted into a house. It remains to be seen if this plan will be executed.

142060 is seen paused at Bedale station, working in multiple with 142090 in a 4-car formation, on driver and staff training/refresher duties. This was part of the requirements for the Wensleydale to reopen the line to passengers following an extended closed period over the Covid-19 pandemic, 24/4/21. Wensleydale Pacer Preservation
