Preservation Information
144007 became the second Class 144 to be preserved when it was driven (with 144006) under its own power from the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway (where it had been stored latterly by Northern Rail) to the sidings at Gobowen in May 2020. It had been acquired by the Cambrian Railway in a two set deal.

On arrival the two sets were stored servicable to await their use in the future. Almost exactly a year later, the pair were moved by road to the railway's headquarters site at Oswestry.

144007 was later found to have various faults so initially didn't enter passenger service, giving up several parts to keep 144006 running.

In spite of some predictions that 144007 was to become a long term donor, repairs were undertaken and the set made its passenger debut in October 2022, with several runs also in multiple with 144006.

In March 2024, 144007 was used on the line's new extension to Weston Wharf for the first time.

144007 continues to provide services.

Future Plans
Longer term the Cambrian Railway have suggested that 144007 & 006 will be used as modern stock for a community service on a rebuilt Cambrian Railway.
