Preservation Information
51386 was preserved in 1999 as a spares donor vehicle at the Swindon & Cricklade Railway. It was latterly in use with Network SouthEast, withdrawn in April 1999.

Later moved to the Mid Norfolk Railway, the vehicle was stripped and scrapped in 2004, with many components (including the bogies) being retained for future maintenance and restoration work.

51386 had little historical significance and several Class 117 DMS vehicles still survive, the class being one of the most numerous in preservation.
