Preservation Information The unit was made briefly operational in 2008/2009, however persistent issues with the unit, its non standard characteristics and a review of earlier plans meant the unit saw very little use, only running on a handful of occasions. The vehicle quickly fell out of use. In 2010, it was agreed to sell the vehicle to individuals of the resident DMU Group, who started that year to dismantle it for spares to ensure the future of their Class 104 fleet. Partially stripped, the vehicle was then stored for some time. November 2011 saw the vehicle dragged back out for final stripping of the larger items such as engines and final drives. The three phase generator (not a standard DMU part!!), which has been sold to the CVR, was also removed to provide power for some of the machine tools on site. By March 2012, the vehicle was a stripped shell and was scrapped that month on site. |
