Preservation Information
Believed to be the first Class 108 to enter preservation (along with 59245), 56207 was preserved in 1990 specifically to be used as a hauled observation coach, rather than as a traditional DMU.

56207 was quickly repainted into Carmine & Cream, a livery usually associated with hauled coaching stock, and it entered service in the summer of 1991.

For an impressive 30 years 56207, along with partner 59245, provided the primary passenger stock for the Appleby-Frodingham Railway Preservation Society's operation, which centred around operating regular tours around the Scunthorpe Steel Works, usually at weekends, throughout the summer hauled by one of the preserved industrial locomotives in the society's collection.

During the early 2020's, 56207 was withdrawn from service awaiting an overhaul, its duties taken by a collection of brakevans and the newly acquired Class 144 set.

56207 remains in store awaiting overhaul.
