Preservation Information The vehicle was later sold to Railcar Enterprises and moved to their base at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway (possibly around 2005) where it was used as a stores coach. A rationalisation of the fleet however saw the vehicle deemed surplus to requirements and it was offered for sale. With no takers, the vehicle was stripped of its useful parts and sold for scrap. Although the vehicle was cut at Booths Scrapyard, Rotherham, the underframe and one bogie are still in existence, now fitted to the "new" steam railcar at the Llangollen Railway after the restoration team bought them. All of the electrical wiring from the vehicle including the jumper sockets was also reclaimed and was used in the restoration of Derby Lightweight 79612. 59496 had little historical significance and several Class 117 TCLs still survive, the class being one of the most numerous in preservation. |
