Preservation Information
143606 was the third Class 143 to be preserved, and the first of the ex-Arriva spec examples. This group of sets were the very last 14X "Pacer" vehicles to survive on the national network. 143606 was moved by road very shortly after finishing mainline service to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway, not far from its regular commercial sphere of operation, joining 142006.

In August 2021 143606 made its preservation passenger debut when it operated at the line's "Keeping the Pace(r)" gala event. It ran in a 4-car set with 142006 and also undertook a demonstration 6-car run with 143607.

By the end of 2021, 143606 was being started up regularly, however there was now doubts over which of the two Class 143's on the railway would be kept operating and which was to be made static (the plan originally was for 143606 to be the operational one).

143606 was subsequently taken out of passenger service but is reportedly started up from time to time to keep systems operational.

Future Plans
143606 is expected to be used statically only in the future.
