Preservation Information
143606 was the fourth Class 143 to be preserved. 143607 was moved by road very shortly after finishing mainline service to the Llanelli & Mynydd Mawr Railway, not far from its regular commercial sphere of operation, joining 143606 & 142006. It was preserved with the intention of being used statically but would see limited use before it was withdrawn for its long term role.

The railway were planning a running day of their new Pacers shortly after 143607 arrived, but there was not enough time to ready it for service so it was placed on display instead.

One of its first moves in preservation was also the first time a Class 142+143 operated in multiple with 143607 joining with 142006 on a test run in July 2021.

In August 2021 143607 made its preservation passenger debut when it operated at the line's "Keeping the Pace(r)" gala event. It ran in a 4-car set with 142006 and also undertook a demonstration 6-car run with 143606.

At the end of 2021, it had been planned to retire 143607 for a static only future, however the set was found to be a better prospect than 143606, so the two roles were swapped and 143607 went forward as an operating set instead.

In 2022, 143607 initially operated reasonably regularly on the line on service trains and driver experiences, but began to fall out of use, with 143612 becoming the main provider of services on the railway.

143607 was subsequently stored out of use.
