56061 was latterly part of set 101664 and was withdrawn from the Manchester area in 2000. The vehicle was acquired by the East Lancashire Railwayas a source of spares. The vehicle was stripped on site, restoration never being considered. The parts from 56061 safeguarded the future running of the National Railway Museum’s Class 101 set, particularly 56352.
